Teresa Fernandez

Mixed Media Artist

Teresa Fernandez has been interested in art from early childhood. Fascinated with color, texture & innovation, Teresa began her artistic journey with a successful career in fashion design. In 1992 Fernandez began painting.

Originally from Chihuahua City, Teresa Fernandez moved to El Paso in 2005. Continuing to explore her love of color, Fernandez uses a mix of various mediums to achieve her unique contemporary painting style.

Teresa works in oil, watercolors, acrylic and mixed media. She has taken specialized classes on complex techniques and learned to experiment with different materials. Her collage style is vibrant with her passion for color and texture, creating very expressive works.

Teresa loves to teach art. While living in Chihuahua City, she was asked to teach her first art class in a private school. Later she was recruited to manage a cultural program including drawing, painting, sculpture, and reading. Fernandez was the owner, director and instructor of Cre-Arte Art School and Gallery in Cd. Juarez for five years. Currently she teaches Art History and Appreciation at Tecnologico de Monterrey, Campus Juarez, as well as workshops on mixed media painting and drawing.

Teresa Fernandez has been represented by the Hal Marcus Gallery since 2006.

Her works hang in private and corporate collections across Mexico and the United States.

Educational background:

1996 – 2006 Studied in Mexico under Mario Parra, Manuel Pina, Rebeca Atuna, and Salvador Marrero completing more than 20 special courses covering such subjects as drawing, portraiture, human figure, oil, collage, acrylic and watercolor.

1986 Fashion Design & Merchandising – El Paso Community College.
